The USAWKF Duanwei Ranking System is divided into nine degrees, six of which can be granted by examination or as honorary ranks, and the last three of which are honorary ranks only. The Duanwei Ranking System is based on that of the Chinese Wushu Association, but with adjustments to make it suitable to the practitioners of all forms of Chinese martial arts in the United States.

This is the first time the USAWKF Duanwei Ranking Examination has been held in the U.S. For this reason, the maximum duan that will be awarded by examination will be 3rd duan, unless you have already been awarded a duan by another country’s national wushu association. Higher honorary duans might also be awarded to selected individuals.

The examination will be conducted by USAWKF and the examiners will be: Grandmaster Qian Yuanze (Top Ten Wushu Coach, former Head Coach of Nanjing Wushu Team), Grandmaster Bai Wenxiang (former Head Coach of Shaanxi Wushu Team, teacher of world-famous Master Zhao Changjun), and Professor Wen Zuohui (Head of Wushu Department at Chengdu Sports Institute).

In future years, first-time applicants will only be awarded 1st duan. This first examination will be the only time that first-time applicants can receive up to 3rd duan.
